Some General Information

Travel

Getting to the Netherlands couldn't be easier:

By Train

As a rail fan this should be your first option!!
Eurostar to Brussels Midi/Zuid (remember in Belgium they use both French and Flemish and all the stations have two spellings..) As another consequence of this the train indicators tend to be rather large!! Then on into Holland on the Brussels to Amsterdam Flier.

The Eurostar web site will give all the details of the services and special cheap tickets if you stay over a Saturday night or if you travel mid-week

Nederlandese Spoorwegen (NS) (The Dutch Railways) have a very comprehensive set of pages in both Dutch and English. This will give you full details of all the trains in the Netherlands and all the international connections. On the domestic services it will even give the platform numbers!!

By air

Air UK do some good deals and fly to Schiphol from many regional airports as well as London Stanstead. Once at Schiphol you are almost at the center of the Nederlandese Spoorwegen (NS) railway network.

By Ferry

Stenna have just introduced high speed catamarans onto the Harwich Hoek van Holland rout. These 40 knot vessels have cut the journey time from 7 hours down to 3 :hours :40 :Mins.

If you must drive!!

A Few points to remember: Petrol is currently about 0.82 GBP / litre, so you won't be driving too far.

Also there is a pecking order for road users :-

You have been warned!!!
